Mike Betts


Mike has lived in Stroud Green / Hornsey since 1979.  An economist by background, he has over 40 years' diverse experience in the field of environmental management and protection, especially policy formulation and strategic planning in relation to waste and wastewater management.  He has been responsible for founding and managing several successful businesses providing wide-ranging advice and innovative solutions for improving environmental performance and resource efficiency, for governments, international finance institutions, donor agencies and industry, both in the UK and internationally. He is a firm believer in developing and applying market-based solutions to address environmental challenges and increase resource efficiency. He has published numerous research reports and papers, most recently a policy paper for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development entitled “From Waste to Resources: Mobilising the Private Sector for Sustainable Waste Management”.
